Communication & Media Studies: Getting Started

This is your guide to communication-related resources in the library and online.

Getting Started with Communication Research

Looking for more theory or history-focused information such as social media theory, or the history of journalism? Try searching the catalog for books, or searching one of our databases listed under the Scholarly Research tab. You might also want to look at the call number cheat sheet below to start thinking about which sub-topics within Communication you are focusing on.

Looking for a more technical "how-to" type of guide? Try searching the library catalog for books and videos using a specific technique or software name.

Need something that will help you argue or give a speech on a topic such as the electoral college or the housing crisis? Look for those topics in the library catalog, or use Opposing Viewpoints, a database listed on the Scholarly Research tab.
