Information Literacy Requirement: Information Literacy Requirement

Information Literacy Requirement

Students must demonstrate a foundational level of information literacy by the end of the first year in residence.  Achievement of this competency provides students with the ability to successfully complete upper-division coursework in both GE and major specific courses. Information literacy is one of the WSCUC Core Competencies assessed at the capstone level.

The  information literacy requirement may be fulfilled by doing any ONE of the following:

  • passing LSCI 105 Information Theory and Practice with a grade of “C” or higher; 
  • passing LSCI 106 Information Resources in Architecture / Interior Architecture with a grade of "C" or higher; 
  • passing LSCI 205 Information in the Disciplines with a grade of "C" or higher;
  • earning a grade of “C” or higher in an equivalent course at another institution
