What is APA?

American Psychological Association (APA) Style is a set of guidelines designed to create consistency among written communication in particular disciplines. The rules provide information concerning:

  • the organization of content
  • writing style
  • citing references
  • and how to prepare manuscripts for publication

APA is generally followed by students and scholars the following disciplines:

  • Social Sciences, such as Psychology, Linguistics, Sociology, Economics, and Criminology
  • Business
  • Nursing
